Unlike other builders I have used, shaun came when he said he would and was very clear on the quote exactly what work was being carried out. I had a lot of work done to the roof which was completed to the highest standard and in good time, weather permitting. The work was a very competative price and Shaun took a deposit of only what was necessary despite my offering of more and I was able to pay that as welll as the outstanding funds on completion by bank transfer. The Roof now looks fantastic and because of this, not only did I ask him to complete more work for me, but he was asked to work on two more roofs in the same street as his work speaks for itself. SS Roofing Ltd was the quickest to reply to our request for a quote (came over within 2 hours), explained the work needed really well and didnt try to talk us into any unnecessary work. They were knowledgeable and friendly and prompt with their quote, which was also the cheapest one we received by a lo! The work done was very good and the guy who did it was also friendly, prompt and thorough. Our roof was in need of some overhaul by way of normal wear and tear over its fifty year age. The end gables needed re- mortaring and SS Roofing called to suggest the modern dry verge method. Shaun showed me the effects of weathering about a metre in under the tiles along every edge - rot in the laths and the bitumen membrane had fallen into the soffits. This was well over the normal lifetime expected for this material and so we decided to thoroughly overhaul the roof. The tiles were in good condition and we had a new modern breathable membrane fitted along with all new pressure-treated laths, and new dry ridge tiles and finished off with the dry verge end caps now that everything was in order. We agreed the price of the work beforehand though the ridge tiles replacement was unforeseen and required a little further outlay as the work progressed. The work was completed through the week as promised and made good use of the dry weather, albeit very hot. I was very pleased that Shaun kept me fully informed of what would be done and when and this all happened exactly as he said. The job has been very well done and a good test with today’s thunderstorms! The work is guaranteed for 22 years and I am pleased to acknowledge their good workmanship. ~ Neil S
